Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an weekly meme created and hosted at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week it’s Top Ten Books I’d want on a Deserted Island.

Hmmmm… Maybe I’ll just skip the books and sunbathe and swim. I mean, after all that just looks beautiful. I suppose if I have to pick some books…

I thought I’d need a mix of books to keep me entertained on a deserted island.

Romance:

Branded by Fire (GR) – I adored this romance, it was sizzling, saucy and just downright hot from start to finish and one of the best shifter romances I’ve read. It’s from a cracking series.

Lover Eternal (GR) – I’ve fallen madly in love with Rhage, and you’ll have probably heard me say it a thousand times.

On Dublin Street (GR) – Contemporary romances aren’t usually my thing, but this was emotional, entertaining and a “rainy day read” so I think it would occupy me on a deserted island.

Pushing the Limits (GR) – Contemporary YA is always my thing either, but I fell in love with this novel and the characters and everything about it. One of my favourite YA books of the year.

Classic:

Rebecca (GR) – I actually haven’t finished this book yet, but it’s really, really good. So I’d want to take it with me to finish and I’m getting a little bit of a thing for Gothic genre and this falls into that category so I think this book would be something I’d read again when I finish it.

Fantasy:

Katya’s World (GR) – I finished this one recently and I haven’t put my review up yet, but it’ll be coming shortly along with an author interview which I’m incredibly excited about. However the novel was brilliant. It was entirely unpredictable so I think I’d like to take it with me and try and read and see where I may have missed things.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (GR) – I thought I’d have to pack one of the heftier Harry Potter books and a lot of things happen in this novel so I’m fairly sure it would entertain me if I couldn’t bring my whole set of Harry Potter books.

Poison Study (GR) – Another recent read which I really enjoyed and I adored the heroine and the love interest who I didn’t expect at first. Definitely a book I could reread.

The Immortal Rules (GR) – My first and only Kagawa book to date, but certainly a stunner of a book to enter into. Kanin is a fictional character that has ruined all others. I’d probably just sit and read about him all day and dream about.

Crime:

Naked in Death (GR) – I simply adore Eve and Roarke. I never tire of them, their relationship, Robb’s writing and I my memory is so atrocious that I’ve probably forgotten who did the murder so it would be equally entertaining to read and I’d like to pick apart all the little details of the murder.

I think I covered most of the genres I love except historical novels, but hopefully these 10 books would be sufficient to keep me happy for a short while on a deserted island. Otherwise I would have to hope somewhere that I could locate a kindle with internet access and get tonnes more because realistically I don’t think I’d survive with only 10 books on a deserted island.

What’s your TTT?

  1. Aahh so many awesome choices! HP is a must and I love that you added On Dublin Street, Pushing the Limits, and Poison Study. Great Top Ten!

  2. Oooh love your choices! I forgot about the In Death series. I probably should have put that on my list because I still have so much catching up to do in the series that a deserted island would be the perfect place to finish 🙂
And of course Harry Potter! I could reread HP forever.

How could you forget about it?!

Yeah, a deserted island would be a perfect place to finish such a long series and a reread of HP would be brilliant on a deserted island! 🙂

  3. Great list! Harry Potter made my list too. I loved Pushing the Limits, and I really need to read The Immortal Rules. 😀 My TTTs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Tuesday! 😀

I really really considered putting some JD Robb on my list, but I really wouldn’t have been able to choose one book–in fact, I tried to refrain from putting any series books on my list, because I knew if I read one, I’d want to read the rest of them…which I wouldn’t have access to! Sad!

I know, it’s so hard to pick out of a series, but I just couldn’t help myself in the end since I adore the series. I noticed some people labelled whole series as one book which may be a way around it, but I felt that would be cheating! 😛

Heh, I skirted that by taking omnibuses of trilogies that I’m either sure or pretty sure exist IRL. That way I get to take all of the series, but it’s still just one book. 😀

  5. I just went and included all the Harry Potter series as one book, there’s no way I could have just picked on to take! Pushing the Limits almost made my list, but I went for Jellicoe Road instead. Great picks!

    My Top Ten

Ahh right, well I thought that would be some form of cheating, but maybe I should have done that! haha. After all, I would have wanted the others to read when I’d read that one.
Ahhh shame but lets hope we get stuck on the same island so we can exchange books! 🙂

  6. Oh this is a great mix of books Livvy, I think I would have such a hard time sticking to ten books, but yay for choosing The Immortal Rules I loved that book! 🙂

    • Livvy @Nerdy Book Reviews

I did too. It’s definitely hard to stick to ten. I had to reign myself in and pick some more recent books. 🙂

  7. Those look like fantastic choices – I’ve only read two of them, but the others are on my wish list! Someone actually asked me what my desert island books would be but I couldn’t answer – too difficult! 😉 Great post Livvy!

  8. Love how you formatted this one! I really need to read ‘Pushing The Limits’ finallly!

  9. Harry Potter, of course, is a must for me, but I’d also love to take Pushing the Limits and The Immortal Rules. Great picks! And wow, that little island looks amazing. Maybe being stuck out there wouldn’t be such a bad thing. 😉

Thank youuu. I mean how could you not take Harry Potter? I know right, when I was looking I was like that’s really pretty, how could being stuck there be such a bad thing. Looks nice and warm. Albeit, I wasn’t considering food, water, dangers etc, but still, haha! 🙂

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate every single view. If you're a fellow blogger I'll return follows/comments. Unfortunately this is an award and tag free zone because of time constraints, but I appreciate the thought.
