What Am I Waiting On?

These Broken Stars

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner

Expected Publication: December 10th 2013 by Disney Hyperion

It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

Why Am I Waiting?

Well, just look at that cover. I first saw this highlighted over at The Midnight Garden here where there was a brilliant post on the background to the novel and how the authors went through lots of changes of title to end up with this one. However, now I have to say I don’t think anything else will fit. It’s so long away for December though and I do not want to wish that time away, but this book I will be awaiting eagerly.

  1. Isn’t it just gorgeous?! Looks like a great story too 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh, I know! I almost posted this one for my WoW this week, but decided to save it for next week, lol! I’m so excited for this book!

  3. That sounds great! And the cover is really beautiful. I’m always on the lookout for more true scifi–it’s not as prevalent today as fantasy is. 😀 Thanks for sharing this!

  4. Ahhhh this sounds so good. Definitely hopping over to add it to Goodreads :).
    Here’s my WoW

  5. YES! I’m so excited for this one, and I love the cover they ended up with; I wish we didn’t have to wait until December, though! 🙂

  7. I love the cover of this one but am a little skeptical about the actual concept/romance being entirely original, so I’m waiting until some reviews come out before adding this to my shelves. Great pick though, Olivia! 🙂

I suppose you are right there, but I’m just enamoured by the idea anyway, so I hope it’s good! 🙂

  8. I’m dying to read this one! The cover is beautiful and the story sounds so interesting. Great pick!

I’m not normally a fan of the girl-in-big-dress cover theme, but I do like this one, the colours are gorgeous

  10. December?! Whaaat! I could have sworn it was releasing this summer. Ugh! I guess the wait for this is a little longer than I first thought. 😦 I do love the sound of it, though! Even though I know it’s not true, I feel like I don’t read nearly enough science fiction. I can’t wait to see what this is like.

Yup, December. It may have been put further back. Like you I’m in the same mood for this one, especially when science-fiction isn’t my usual genre.

  11. The premise sounds amazing Livvy! I love it when two people from opposite social/economical status are thrown together. Great choice. 🙂

  12. This one just sounds sooo good. I can’t wait to read it either! Great pick!

Thanks for dropping by, I really appreciate every single view. If you're a fellow blogger I'll return follows/comments. Unfortunately this is an award and tag free zone because of time constraints, but I appreciate the thought.
